Jia L. Ling

I am currently a senior majoring in Wildlife Biology, minoring in Fishery Science, and also working on completing an interdisciplinary study program in Conservation Biology. I transferred to Colorado State University during the summer of 2006. I first attended college at the University of Maryland, where I studied molecular biology and pre-vet medicine.

My all time role model is my neighbor from home. His name is Clay and he is an established Environmental Contaminant Specialist working for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services. He is my inspiration and I hope to someday be as brilliant, bold, and compassionate as he is.

Some of my hobbies are hiking, playing with my puppy, and cooking.

Here are some fun facts:

  1. I fell down an escalator once (from top to bottom).
  2. When I was little, my parents didn’t believe in child supervision. As a result, I threw a metal pole out the window of our 29th floor apartment building. The police were involved. I was 4 years old.
  3. I had recess in a cage when I attended elementary school in Hong Kong.

I will be working for the Asian / Pacific American Student Services as the new Outreach and Assessment Coordinator. I am excited about attending various cultural events and learning more about the various diversities that exist on campus.  So come to the A/PASS office located in the Lory Student Center above the first national bank and check us out. We’re all pretty good looking here.
